Koreans

For the third year running we have hosted an extended visit by three staff from the Seoul Racecourse Trainers Association. During the three months they were with us they were 'converted' to our style of riding and tutored on stable management in an English yard

They completed units of the NVQ 3 and were instructed in the theory of breaking horses. They were then fortunate enough to spend almost two months with Steve James learning the practical aspects of breaking young horses.

Their enthusiasm was boundless and they had a good standard of horsemanship but communication did prove problematic as their level of English was very limited and our ability to speak Korean was ...non existent! But racing has a universal language and both parties succeeded in making themselves understood - eventually.

Visits such as this are very much welcomed. Not only do they (we hope) benefit the visitors but it allows us to understand more about racing elsewhere in the world and help build towards an international community of racing.
