The British Racing School hosted a visit by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on 25th November, the 25th anniversary of the opening of The British Racing School at Newmarket.

Her visit allowed her to see the School's training in action. This included trainees riding in the indoor school and on the gallop. She also met students from schools local to Newmarket who come to the BRS one day a week for NVQ training as part of their school curriculum. Part of her tour included a demonstration of the latest riding simulator which makes use of modern technology to provide a visual image of performance.

At the end of her visit she presented the award for the Advanced Apprentice of the Year, this was awarded to Darren O'Dwyer who has now completed his NVQ3 and is working as a conditional Jockey for P Hobbs.

Rory MacDonald, the Chief Executive commented 'we were thrilled that Her Royal Highness was able to fit in a visit to the School as part of her very busy schedule. She has a real interest in the work that we do and we were able to update her on the significant changes and developments since her last visit in 2002.
