Davies is runner-up for the Newcomer Award
The British Racing School was proud to see graduate Sam Davis receive runners-up prize in the David Nicholson Newcomer category of the recent Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards.
Sam attended the 9 week foundation course August to October in 2006 with only minimal previous experience with horses before he arrived on the course. When he attended his interview, he had helped out at a riding school local to his home in Dagenham, Essex. Following the successful interview and acceptance on the course, Sam was luckily to secure some work experience at Rae Guests yard. Sam's End of Course report commented on the hard work he had shown during the intense course. Following the 9 week course and a brief spell working for Vince Smith, Sam returned to Rae Guests yard in January 2007, where he completed his Apprenticeship in December 2007.
A proud and memorable moment for Sam was to lead up Serious Attitude in the 2009 1,000 guineas. Although Serious Attitude finished out of the placings, Sam was busy again 2 days later when attending the Category A Assessment at the BRS which he passed and was granted an Amateur Licence soon after. 4 months later, another proud moment of Sam's career saw him have his first ride at Beverley on 22nd September 2009.
Having recently completed all the components required to achieve the full Advanced Apprenticeship, the full framework certificate has been applied for.
With already achieving things that some people in racing are never lucky enough to do, we wish Sam all the best for the future and hope to see him go onto even bigger and better things.
