Pony Racing Camp - Easter 2010
The British Racing School held an Easter Pony Racing Camp this year in light of the overwhelming demand for Summer Pony Racing Camp. The camp was again a fantastic success with all 11 children thoroughly enjoying the week.
The week long camp included visits to Sir Mark Prestcott's Yard and The National Stud, riding tuition from our Pony racing coaches on the children's ponies and on the simulators, video reviews and yard lessons. The highlight of the week was the mounted games where we were lucky to be joined by top jockeys Micky Fenton and BRS graduate and Champion Jockey 2006, Seb Sanders. Each jockey was appointed the Team Captain of either the red or green team to battle it out as mounted games champion. This year was won by a very competitive red team, led by Seb Sanders.
Once the children had progressed to riding on the straight they were rewarded by being given the chance to ride up the 7 furlong straight with Ted Durcan, 7 times Champion Jockey in Dubai.
"It was a fantastic experience for them, I am very grateful to Ted, Micky and Seb who give up their scarse spare time to come and help make this camp extra special for the kids. Sir Mark always gives a fascinating tour of his beautiful yard which the children love" Gemma Dawson, Finance Director at the BRS
On the final day of Camp, parents and siblings were invited to the School where top trainer Marco Botti judged Best Turned Out. The parents then got to drive along side the gallop in the training minibus to witness the improvement made during their week.
Camp was concluded with an award ceremony, the results of which can be read on the Pony Racing Section of the BRS website, click here to visit the "latest event" page.
"I must give a big thank you to all the Sponsors of the Easter Pony Racing Camp, this includes Sharp Nutrition, Gibson Saddlers, Snailwell Stud, Tattersalls and Weatherbys." Gemma Dawson.
