Nicola Jefferson

We recently welcomed back former pupil Nicola Jefferson who was at the School for a Conditional / Cat B Licence Course.

Nicola attended the nine-week Foundation course in the Summer of 1998 on Course 110 which included Chris Catlin and Sarah Shreeve amongst others. It was an eventful course as Nicola unfortunately broke her leg in a friendly football match with the students at the National Stud. Thankfully Nicola went on to complete her NVQ2 in Racehorse Care with us the following year whilst based with her father, trainer Malcolm Jefferson.

After a degree at Leeds University studying Dietetics Nicola is now Assistant Trainer to her father and hopes to complete her NVQ3 and Trainers Modules in the next few years.

Nicola has been riding as an Amateur, mostly on the Flat, and has had 7 winners to date. As a successful Amateur she has been busy representing the UK in the Fegentri series of World Cup Nations Races and has ridden in Germany, USA and Italy as part of this - finishing 2nd , 3rd , 5th and 6th from 4 rides.

Nicola is now set to join the Category B Amateur ranks which will give her a wider choice of races to enter and to test her skills against professional jockeys.

We wish Nicola well for the future in all her endeavours and are sure she will be back in the Winners Enclosure soon.
