Korean Jockey Training - A Winning Formula
Our relationship with the Korea Racing Authority (KRA) is now well established and for a number of years we have provided an annual training course for their grooms.
This has now extended to jockey training and we are delighted to have seven trainee jockeys with us for two months. Unlike in this country, training for jockeys up to the point at which they gain their apprentice licence is vested in the KRA. The training lasts two years and the group of jockeys with us are the pick of the crop and a year into the programme.
Light and strong with a great deal of drive and determination they have made huge strides in their time with us. All ride out each morning for Newmarket trainers - who are delighted with their riding - and then receive tuition here at the School in the afternoon. They have also had the opportunity to visit race meetings at Newmarket, Epsom and Windsor and will also visit Royal Ascot.
Despite their demanding schedule they still find time and energy for football in the evenings and were 3 -1 winners against the BRS Foundation Course trainees.
