We're delighted to have pony racing graduates and current Conditional William Twiston-Davies and Harry Derham back at The British Racing School (BRS) for Continuation Training.

Both William and Harry started their careers Pony Racing and gained invaluable experience on the racecourse in doing so. Since making the move to riding under rules both young jockeys have made an impression on the racing world securing good rides at the big meetings but that doesn't mean they've made it. There is still a lot they can learn but to help them along on their journey all Conditionals (and Apprentices) are invited back to The BRS on Continuation Training. The weeks' training aims to develop their overall skills as a professional sportsperson by introducing them to subjects such as Sports Psychology, Sports Science and Finance! They also have 1 to 1 Diet and Nutrition consultations with Julia Scott Douglas, Rules and Regulations update with a BHA Stipendiary Steward and a schooling session with the Olympic Coach Yogi Breisner, on top of lots of simulator training with our Senior Jockey Coach Richard Perham.

Completion of this course isn't the end of their training, once they have ridden over 20 winners and are showing signs of having a successful career they are invited back on Advanced Training. Again a week long course but this time developing their existing skills even further; including Media Training, with a strong emphasis on Professionalism in Sport, Psychology and Finance as well as the practical riding aspect. This brings the racing industry more in line with other sports and is hugely important for the development of these young jockeys into professional sportsmen and women.
