Where to start?

There are three strands to Pony Racing:

Pony Club Race Days

Races for youngsters aged 10-15, run at different venues throughout the country (normally at racecourses on non racedays). Typically there will be 6 races throughout the day open to novice riders, and races are run over distances of 4 furlongs and upwards.

Point to Point Pony Races

Races for youngsters aged 9-15, run at Point to Point Meetings through out the country during the season. 2 races are normally run at each Meeting for Ponies of 138 and under and for 148 and under.

Pony Racing - winner 2005

Races are run over distances between 4 and 10 furlongs. Each area have their own series which ends in a Final for those who have qualified. Children must qualify to ride in races by hunting or attending pony club rallies

Charles Owen Racecourse Series

A series of races run on racecourses throughout the country on racedays for youngsters aged 11-15. 2 races are normally run for Ponies of 138 and under and 148 and under, over distances of 4 furlongs and upwards. Sponsored by Charles Owen this series runs between May and September. Each year the Series ends in an exciting final at a major racecourse, the last 2 years has been held at Aintree!

The Charles Owen Series is supported by The British Racing School, The Pony Racing Authority and The Northern Racing College with course walks, debriefs, guidance and advice on race days
