The Racing Industry Course is a British Horseracing Authority programme, planned and delivered by the British Racing School, and sponsored by Weatherbys.

The week long course is unique and covers all of the major aspects of the racing industry.

The course would be suitable for a wide range of people, ranging from those new to racing through to middle managers or anyone who simply wants to broaden their knowledge of the British and International racing scene.

The course is based on four main themes, which aim to cover all areas of the industry from breeding, training, welfare, funding, racecourses, race planning, racehorse ownership and much more.

The course includes a combination of different activities, with the programme involving lectures, seminars and exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of destinations of interest such as Tattersalls, a top trainer's yard and a prominent Stud Farm.

A major part of the programme is discussing the current issues confronting the racing industry. Issues on the agenda for 2009 were;

• The credit crunch and the repercussions of a looming recession on the industry

• Integrity in racing in the modern era

• The media’s impact on the sport

• The conundrum of funding the horseracing industry

• The future of breeding and the risk of overproduction in the UK and Ireland
