The first week of February saw thirty three delegates from as far as Oman, Hong Kong, Singapore and France, as well as from all over Great Britain, arrive at the British Racing School for The Racing Industry Course.

The Racing Industry Course 2010

The week was packed full of insightful talks, visits and discussions, hosted very generously by many of the top names in the racing industry.

Delegates varied in age, knowledge, experience and background. There were several new to racing or who did not work in the industry and 7 students who are studying the Horseracing Industry course at Warwickshire College.

The course was fortunate enough to see some of Darley's world class stallions, such as Derby winners New Approach and Authorized.

Mark Tompkins hosted the delegates for a tour of his top class training facilities in the heart of Newmarket. This provided the perfect opportunity for delegates to see the day to day routine of a yard and a horse in training. Earlier that morning delegates were taken out for a tour of the gallops by The British Racing School's very own gallops expert, Frank Conlon.

Stephen Wallis, Managing Director of Newmarket Racecourses gave a tour of both Newmarket racecourses, the Rowley Mile and the July Course, and he followed this with an extremely interesting and interactive presentation on The Racecourse Customers.

The Racing Industry Course 2010 was a huge hit once again and the British Racing School is very grateful to Weatherbys, the British Horseracing Authority and all the speakers for their generous support.

Some of the comments made by the delegates who attended the course this year:

-'I came here wanting to learn more about the racing industry and I can honestly say the course has far exceeded my expectations. I felt privileged to be listening to such highly regarded people within the industry.'
