BRS Blog 18th – 22nd September

Firstly we’d like to say a massive thank you to all who attended our open morning on last Saturday and those who popped by our Mobile Training Facility at The Severals on Sunday, as part of Newmarket Open Weekend. We received over 300 visitors on Saturday which was fantastic to see!

Monday saw the graduation of course 312X, they have all worked hard over their 9 week course and have all met the standard to graduate, congratulations to them all. They will now start progressing towards their Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Racehorse Care and Riding while working in a racing yard. We wish them all the best of luck for the future.

We also saw the arrival of course 314A, a four week intensive foundation course. We have 8 trainees who have already gained a lot of experience with racehorses and so can be put through this fast-track version of our Pre-Apprenticeship course in Racehorse Care and Riding.

Running this week was our Assistant Trainers course. This is a residential course run over three days, aimed to demonstrate the importance of an assistant trainers’ role both in the yard and on the racecourse. The Course includes: staff management, handicapping, media training, health and safety, racing welfare, BHA’s licensing and security functions, and Weatherbys operations and the rules. This has proven very popular in the past with many great reviews from past delegates. For more information about our Assistant Trainers course please visit: http://www.brs.org.uk/courses/ass-train/
