It was a fickle week weather wise at the British Racing School. Another week our students have been grafting away towards their Level 2 Diploma Apprenticeship in Racehorse Care and Riding. Congratulations to course 314A who completed their four week intensive course this Friday, we wish them the best of luck in the future.

On Tuesday we visited The West Kent Skillfest at Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. We regularly visit these sort of events to engage with enthusiastic school children and spread the word about the unique opportunity working in the horseracing industry provides and how our Level 2 Diploma Apprenticeship course is the first step on to this career path.

Running this week was our Racing Secretaries course, which saw delegates here for training for this important role within the racing industry. The course was run over three days with a wide range of speakers giving a practical insight into fulfilling this demanding role. The course covers: the structure of racing, health and safety explaining the BHA red book, NTF employment guide, the NASS/NTF agreement and racing administration, the rules of racing, Weatherbys involvement with racing, International Racing Bureau, general payroll, transport qualifications explained and European Breeders Fund. On Saturday we’re out and about again, this time at The Rowley Mile Racecourse in Newmarket for Future Champions Day 2017. We are taking our Mobile Training Facility which will be situated on the Hyperion Lawn, so come and say hello and have a go on our simulator, we’ll be delighted to see you!
