    Overview

    This course is designed to give competent stable staff the opportunity to learn about riding work. It covers the basic theory and aims behind riding work. This is transferred on to the simulators for body position training and then to the gallops with 2 ridden sessions, which are filmed and reviewed.

    To be eligible for this course you need to working full time for a licensed racehorse trainer and be cantering racehorses on the gallops on a daily basis.

    The course is run over 3 afternoons to accommodate Newmarket Stable Staff and 1 ½ days for non-Newmarket Stable Staff.

    Newmarket Staff

    • Afternoon 1 – Simulator Training on Body Position
      Riding Work Lecture
    • Afternoon 2 – Ride a piece of work followed by video review
    • Afternoon 3 – Ride a piece of work followed by video review

    Non-Newmarket Staff

    • Afternoon Day 1 – Simulator Training on Body Position
      Riding Work Lecture
    • Morning Day 2 – Ride a piece of work followed by video review
    • Afternoon Day 2 – Ride a piece of work followed by video review

    Overview

    This course is designed for stable staff who are used regularly by their trainers for work mornings, but who would like to hone their skills and learn how to give constructive and useful feedback after a piece of work. The tuition involves lectures on riding work and giving feedback and then the classroom work is transferred on to the gallops with 2 ridden sessions, which are filmed and reviewed.

    Unless applications are accompanied by a comprehensive reference from a licenced trainer, applicants with be referred to the Introduction to Riding Work Course.

    The course is run over 3 afternoons to accommodate Newmarket based stable staff and 1 1/2 days for non-Newmarket Stable Staff.
