Haydock Park 2009 PJA Apprentice Series
This summer series of races is designed specifically for apprentice riders.
The Professional Jockeys Association and Haydock Park Racecourse Apprentice Race Series provide opportunities for all Apprentice Jockeys to ride in a series of Apprentice Races and to receive tuition and advice on their riding from either Kevin Darley, the PJA Industry Liaison Director or Richard Perham, The British Racing School Jockey Coach. The special conditions apply to the whole series of Apprentice races, to be run at Haydock Park.
The apprentice jockey accumulating the most points in the series will win a one month working holiday in Dubai, including:
- Salaried employment at one of the Dubai Racing Club stables from mid January to mid February
- Complimentary roundtrip Economy Class Airfare from UK to Dubai
- Complimentary living accomodation during the stay in one of the Emirates Racing Authority apartments, based on shared living.
The trainer accumulating the most points in the series will win a holiday for two in Dubai during the World Cup Meeting, including:
- Complimentary stay in five star hotel in Dubai for three nights
- Hospitality tickets for two at The Dubai World Cup
- Complimentary roundtrip Business Class Airfares for two from UK to Dubai.
Trainers will accumulate points in the series as follows:
- Each runner trained 3 points
- Each winner 5 points
- Each second placed horse 3 points
- Each third placed horse 2 points
- Each fourth placed horse 1 point
Apprentice jockeys will accumulate points for each ride, rides placed in the first four and for riding skills and professionalism displayed. All jockeys will be required to take part in a mandatory course walk and post-race debrief, to be conducted by Kevin Darley, Chief Executive of The PJA, or in his absence, Richard Perham, Jockey Coach at The British Racing School
