Magic 50 for Marquand
9th Sep 2015 | News
The 50th win for Tom means his weight allowance as a claiming apprentice jockey will be reduced from 5lbs to 3lbs, moving him ever closer to the 95 winners required to be become a fully-fledged professional jockey.
There is little doubt that Tom’s career, which began at Pony Club, on the hunting field and then Pony Racing stood him in great stead to make the transition to riding under rules at 16 years old. He has been involved in training at the British Racing School since he was 13 completing Pony Racing Camp and along with his obvious talent, his commitment and professionalism to the sport made him stand out.
On graduating from his pre-apprenticeship Level 2 Diploma course at the BRS in 2014 Tom went on to work for Richard Hannon Jnr, who he thanks regularly for the support he has given him, along with many other trainers. We hope this continues, and wish Tom luck in making his childhood dream come true of having a successful career as a professional jockey. We’re sure the milestone of 95 winners won’t be too long to wait for!
