Rory MacDonald OBE

It is with great sadness we learned yesterday of the passing of Rory MacDonald OBE, who was Chief Executive of the British Racing School for 22 years.

Rory, began his time at the BRS in 1992 and before his retirement in September 2014 he had achieved what can only be described as an incredible amount, not just for the School but for the Racing Industry as a whole. Rory worked tirelessly for young people embarking on their careers and was respected for this by the pupils and industry alike. He transformed the racing school from a fairly modest set-up to a centre of excellence of international repute. He built an awful lot here, he did a huge amount to develop the standing of the school and he was synonymous with it. He did so much and never for selfish reasons.

The staff at the BRS are shocked and devastated by this sudden loss but thoughts must go to Rory’s wife Antonia and his family at this time. He was a wonderful man who will be profoundly missed.

If you would like to pass on your condolences to the family please send your card to the BRS who will pass them to Rory’s family.
