It was a rather wet and miserable start to the week weather wise but the show never stops here at the British Racing School!
Monday saw a pre-licence assessment course for apprentices and conditionals to which six potential future stars of the weighing room came to the British Racing School to be put through their paces in order to be able to attend the licencing courses later in the year to become an apprentice or conditional jockey. It’s so nice to see some of our former foundation course graduates coming back to us. To see them making so much progress in their careers is so rewarding for us here at the British Racing School and we wish all the applicants the best of luck for the future!
On Wednesday we visited The Essex & Suffolk Hunt Branch Pony Club Camp. This was a fantastic opportunity to see so many children who are passionate about horse riding. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon providing jockey fitness sessions, racing equipment workshops and equicizer training. We are very keen to support The Pony Club and we hope to do more in the future because Pony Racing is the grassroots of our sport with many successful jockeys today having started learning their craft through competing in Pony Racing. Friday is the graduation of course 311. We are always immensely proud of every one of our foundation graduates and course 311 is no exception with each one of them completing our rigorous 14 week course. They will all now start their respective placements working within racing yards in order to complete the apprenticeship and achieve their Level 2 Diploma in Racehorse Care and Riding. Congratulations to Yasuko Tsuruta, Alex Jary, Declan Bennetts, Jessica Brown, Nia Buzzard, Pheobe Robinson and Taylor Collins. Once again, we wish them all the best of luck in the future!
We are at The Game Fair 2017 at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Game Fair is celebrating its 59th year and is quoted as “the annual gathering for people passionate about countryside pursuits, and the Great British Countryside in all its glory”. Amongst an awesome line up of events over the weekend, The Shetland Pony Grand National will be taking place in The Brewin Dolphin Main Arena on Friday at 11.00 & 15.40, Saturday and Sunday at 10.15 & 13.30 where our two BRS sponsored jockeys Rocco Dettori and Lucy Aspell will be competing. In the Horse and Hound ring The British Racing School will be giving Pony Racing demonstrations and 12.35 and 3.45 all three days. It should be a fantastic weekend so please feel free to pay us a visit at our stall and come and have a go on our equicizer!
