Congratulations to Tory  Todd to has just landed the Betfair Clock Tower Cup at Doncaster.

Tory, who graduated from the BRS back in 2004 and now works for Ruth Carr won the race which is the pinnacle of Stable Staff Week.

The Clock Tower Cup saw 12 members of racing industry staff switching saddles to become jockeys and ride horses trained by their bosses. Race sponsors Betfair kindly put up a prize of a scholarship at the British Racing School or the Northern Racing College, for the winner to receive the highest standard of training to either attain their Category A Amateur Jockey License, or undertake another training course in order to advance their career in racing.  Tory is likely to attend the Racing Secretary Course at the BRS as part of her prize, as she’ll also be awarded with an exercise saddle from Gibson Saddlers in the sponsors, Betfair, colours of yellow and black!

Tory was interviewed ahead of the race where she said “I have been in racing since I left school at the age of 16 where I then went onto The BRS.  After graduating I went to Malcom Jefferson’s yard where I began gaining experience within the horse racing industry, from here I have had various different opportunities in different yards across the country.

I started at Ruth Carr’s in 2010 then in 2013 I was lucky enough to go on a sabbatical in Australia where I started at Bart Cummings’ yard. I then went onto gain experience working at a pre training yard for the remainder of my time there. However it was here that I broke my leg in 2 places. Without the help of Racing Welfare I would have found it difficult to get back riding again. This is why I wanted to participate in this race and show my appreciation for everything they did for me, also to help raise awareness of the charity so it can continue to help others that find themselves in the same situation as I did.”

Ruth says of Tory : “I nominated Tory for Clock Tower Cup because she is an important member of our team who is a very capable rider and a hard worker with a no nonsense approach. Having recently enjoyed the thrill of riding in a charity race myself I thought Tory would also love the buzz!.”
