Lauren Smith a former BRS graduate is currently on a prestigious scholarship scheme in America.
The IFHRA Mentorship Scheme is a new initiative whereby two racing staff swap employers for a month to gain an insight into how other racing yards operate internationally.
Following a 9 week foundation course with us in December 2014 she went to work for trainer Andrew Balding at Kingsclere Stables. Lauren was selected by CEO of the BRS Grant Harris to go on the IFHRA Mentorship Exchange, where she has gone to work for trainer Joe Sharp for a month. In exchange Jerick Ello who is an apprentice with Joe Sharp has come to the UK to spend a month learning from Andrew Balding. Joe Sharp is currently one of the top trainers in the U.S his most recent big win being the $1 Million Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park. We are immensely proud of Lauren, it is a fantastic achievement to be part of this scholarship scheme having only graduated from us 2 ½ years ago. We wish her the best of luck with the remainder of her time in America and are sure she will learn a tremendous amount from it which she can implement when she returns to the UK to continue working for Andrew Balding.
