Martin McIntyre is a clear winner of the Conditional Training Series

Martin McIntyre, Conditional for Neil Mulholland was crowned Champion of the Racing Excellence Training Series on Sunday 10th May at Plumpton.


After winning two out of the thirteen series races and being placed in two others, Martin topped the leader board with thirty seven points going in to the final. Ben Ffrench Davis was Martin’s closest rival sitting on twenty four points. Martin was without a ride in the final and although Ben did have a mount with only place and course walking points available he was unable to rein back Martin’s lead.
Martin was presented with a bronze trophy and £1000 to put towards his race riding career. Previous winners have spent there prize on Horse simulators, iPad/laptops or a diesel card.
The Jockey Coaching programme runs alongside the Racing Excellence Series’, which gives all Conditionals and Apprentices the opportunity to have a UKCC Level 2/3 qualified coach. Martin is coached by Rodi Greene who rode nearly 300 winners in his career as a Jump Jockey. Jockey Coaching sessions can consist of anything from racehorse simulator training to nutrition, from fitness to race reviews.

The final race of the series was won by BRS Graduate Thomas Cheesman, he rode Ossie’s Dancer for Martin Smith and was presented with an engraved silver photo frame. Thomas has ridden 13 winners in his career so far, is conditional to Philip Hobbs, and won last years Conditional Series!
