The Race is Upon Us!

On Sunday 24th May two young riders who have been training on the Pony Racing Academy at The British Racing School (BRS) for the past 12 weeks will make their racecourse debut.

Cobi Vitler, 15, and Bertie Symonds, 14, have been travelling to the BRS from Sussex for an 8am start every Saturday morning since March for this opportunity and have shown great levels of dedication and commitment. The improvement they have shown has been enormous and before the Point to Point card at the Berks and Bucks Draghound meet at Kingston Blount, Oxfordshire, they will ride in 148cm and under Pony Race.

Neither of the boys had ever ridden a racing pony before starting out on the academy and had only dreamt of ever being able to ride in an actual race, but thanks to funding from the Racing Foundation and individual supporters, we have been able to give these boys a chance in a lifetime. The 2 ponies racing on Sunday, will both carry famous colours to thank the academy supporters. Time Will Tell, who’ll be ridden by Bertie Symonds will carry the colours of Charles Wentworth whilst Worth the Wait and Cobi Vitler will be in the classic winning colours of the Niarchos Family.

We wish both boys the best of luck, hope they enjoy the experience and come back safe, sound and very happy!
